Yesterday was the first night for Mexicans to spend on the cemetery with drinks, music and family. Just a few shots to let you enjoy.

Oaxaca has been very alive since last night… a lot of tourists (with camera’s) and a lot of parades (comparsas) popping up from each corner of the city. I just keep on shooting and I am getting into memory problems to back-up all the pictures. The hardest work will be back at home, make the final selection and retouching. But for now I keep on hunting the festivities with my camera!

After a few relaxing days of research, we got thrown into the comparsas (parades) in Oaxaca. A lot of music, alcohol and dressed-up people having fun on the streets. That’s what a like And the first boy, being Michael Jackson, so hilarious!

I just got into Oaxaca. While walking on the streets to check out the atmosphere, we bumped into a celebration of a local Saint (San Judas). Some girls where getting ready to be driven around in the parade, sitting on a truck loaded with light…

The last two days I spent a lot of time and money on vocho taxi’s… I got more stories and videos “on the road”! While hiding from the rain, my eye catched this taxi. Only one week left and the whole country gets crazy about Dia de Muertos! I was laughing out loud in the rain, holding my Canon 5DII after shooting this video!

I am back on the road with an assistant, so I can take out my camera whenever I want. Like in this bumpy taxi ride… I got some more nice shots, but that’s gonna be for a final movie (in HD!).

I’m totally into the Canon 5DII video! I managed to get some shoots that represent Mexican daily life with the vocho really well!

Back in Mexico, I am hunting some more VW beetles. Not only with my Pentax67 (thank you my friend to convince me to take it with me!), but also with my 5DII and its option “video”. It’s exciting to capture the Mexican atmosphere on the streets… (quality did drop due to youtube )

I managed to shoot a whole afternoon faces… trying to capture a tiny smile in people their eyes with my large format camera. I’ve got a lot of work to finish up the film and scans. You can check out already one polaroid, a shot of Imke Dielen. This is how she looks, in real life and on the cover of her book.

Last Sunday I spend on the other side of our country… hunting beetle cars again, but instead I got hunted by the rain. I am pretty sure I could have captured some nece sceneries demonstrating the passions that Europeans have for the vochos. But I’ll have to find that happiness next time…
